Writing With Jaya
I am celebrating my life as an immigrant from India to Canada.
Immigration is a hard part of life. Sometimes as forced by situations and sometimes just by choice. But, it is a long process of evolution and gives a new definition to the survival of the fittest. You have to cope up with the process, overcome the anxieties and learn new ways of living. The insane feeling of being brought up in Indian culture makes me nostalgic. May it be the simple ginger tea (adrak waali chai) or homemade food (maa k hanth ka khana) or hustles bustles of crowded cities or the most complex life, I lived there, it can be nothing in this world in comparison to being in a place, where half of your growing life has been spent.
This seems true that we are close to becoming global citizens and struggling to adapt the universal cultures. Suddenly at the same time, we become more sensitive to our motherland. More patriotic than ever before. We start sensing what comes out as an image, as a reflection and start filtering the right portrait of India. And when we are on the other side of the story, we can clearly see the mirror and align to it. Being on this edge I feel I have tons of those stories to narrate. Hundreds of differences to share and a complete insight into an immigrated Indian soul.
